Solving my biggest problem at burning man, Beer stabilizer 2.0 – no more flat roadies
byu/the_colorist inBurningMan
Burning Man ingenuity strikes again. A viral clip posted to r/BurningMan by u/the_colorist shows a bike-mounted beer holder with a suspension-style mount designed to keep cans fizzy over rough playa bumps. The original Reddit thread (3,361 upvotes, 384 comments) and the short video are worth a watch: Reddit thread and video.
What we saw
The clip (about 17 seconds) shows a creative mount for a can of beer attached to a bike frame with shock-absorbing components so the can stays level and vibration is reduced. The poster calls it “Beer stabilizer 2.0” — a follow-up to an earlier 2019 attempt — and says this version is “fully functional.”
Why burners care
- Keeps carbonated drinks from going flat over playa potholes.
- Classic Burning Man blend: engineering + partying + art.
- Great example of small, useful camp hacks that spread fast across the community.
Top reactions from Reddit
- d_neevs: “This is why burning man is so dope. Engineering, partying and love come together in perfect harmony…and here we are…it’s 2022 and we’ve got people building a suspension system for their can of beer. What a time to be alive.”
- the_colorist (OP): “After my first attempt in 2019, it was more of a gimmick than functional, now I am fully functional baby! those da@# bumps wont have control over my precious bubbles.”
- hippychemist: “You gotta post a vid of that bike at night. Looks dope.”
- microcoffee: “Great idea. I would actually seek out a patent, before someone else sees this and makes $$$$”
Whether you’re impressed by the craftsmanship or the sheer whimsy, this is the kind of small-scale innovation that keeps the playa lively.
Quick note
Nice idea, but remember festival safety and Leave No Trace principles. If you try something similar on the playa or at a local ride, keep it secure and trash-free.
