Love in Sherwood Court
One poster described a slow, perfect morning under a tree at Sherwood Court: dozing in a beanbag, finding little trinkets left by strangers, and getting woken up by a wild Willa set. What started as an all-night adventure turned into a relationship — they’re now planning their next Forest together. It’s a reminder that the Forest is as much about people as it is about music.
The pashmina that came home
Someone lost a beloved In-N-Out Sullivan King pashmina, watched it wander the camp, and assumed it was gone for good — until a crew they met at Justice pulled the exact pash out of a bag on the last night. Lost-and-found miracles: this one earned a drink offer and lifelong fans of Forest serendipity.
Poetry, poker chips, and a very specific crown
One user recounted a chaotic scavenger-hunt-to-Poetry-Brothel story: after winning a golden poker chip from a magician, their crew crawled through a secret fireplace and ended up in a dim room where a sketch artist drew them — and they got to choose a performer. A tactile little Forest fairy tale that wouldn’t exist anywhere else.
Sunglasses from the Giving Tree
When a pair of sunglasses broke, a Forester did a “hot lap” around the Giving Tree carrying printed lizards — and swapped one for a working pair. Later they ran into the donor and shared a quick, meaningful conversation before catching the show. Practical, weird, and lovely.
The deer-man and the glowstick slingshot
One frequent-costume Forester dresses as a deer man and hands out kandi and lighters. During a Zed’s Dead drop he launched glowsticks over the crowd from a branch slingshot, shouted “HAPPY FORRRRRESSSSTT!!!!” and made a trio of strangers’ night. That’s the performative kindness the Forest is famous for.
Pregnant, soaked, and still smiling
A member who attended while six months pregnant remembered a sudden severe storm announcement, sprinting back to camp and watching a mud waterslide from the safety of their car. Not ideal — but still unforgettable and silly in all the best ways.
High-schoolers who snuck in and met a drummer
Five teens snuck in one year and ended up hitching a packed golf cart ride with a friendly stranger who turned out to be the drummer for a band (String Cheese Incident). They left as huge fans and haven’t missed a year since — a classic coming-of-Forest tale.
Little kindnesses
- Someone offered a root-beer flavored Dum-Dum to a stranger who’d been ranting about flavors — then vanished like a candy fairy.
- A totem with a rotisserie chicken showed up and lasted several days, because why not?
- Parents turned up multiple times in the crowd of 50k+ at one person’s first Forest — pure small-world vibes.
