The Mermaid Avenue project began in 1995 when Nora Guthrie asked Bragg to help sort Woody Guthrie’s unpublished lyrics; the first album arrived in 1998, with follow-ups in 2000 and 2012. Fan favorites like “California Stars,” “Hoodoo Voodoo,” and “Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key” are expected to be in the set.
Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy said, “The world needs all the Woody Guthrie it can get.” Bragg added he’s “really looking forward to reconnecting with Wilco to bring Woody’s words to life once again.”
Solid Sound returns to MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts. We’ll pass along the rest of the lineup when it drops.
