Soulshine at Sea 3 Cancelled Amid Abuse Allegations and Artist Withdrawals

Organizer Sixthman has officially canceled Soulshine at Sea 3, the sold-out four-day Miami-to-Cozumel music cruise scheduled for November 4–8, 2025. The cancellation follows serious abuse allegations brought forth by singer Victoria Canal against an unnamed male artist on the lineup widely linked to Michael Franti.

Canal, who was 19 during the alleged abuse, described a year-long controlling and damaging relationship with a “very powerful, decades-older man” after being invited to Nashville for a collaboration. Though she did not initially name the artist due to potential legal repercussions, the widespread assumption has pointed toward Franti, who has denied all claims of abuse while acknowledging a consensual romantic involvement outside his marriage.

The fallout was swift: several artists including Dispatch, Maggie Rose, Hirie, and Liz Vice dropped out of the event. Sixthman is now planning a different event for the same dates, while offering refunds or credit options to ticket holders.

The reaction within the r/jambands community has been a mixture of disillusionment, criticism, and sadness. Comments recalled Franti’s polarizing stage presence and backstage reputation, marking a stark contrast to his earlier peace-and-love image associated with late ’90s influential work like The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.

Additionally, some commenters highlighted the cruise’s awkward branding, noting that the name “Soulshine” is a well-known trademark of Warren Haynes, adding controversy to the event’s atmosphere.

This cancellation sends shockwaves through the jam band and festival communities, igniting important discussions about artist accountability and the responsibility of organizers in ensuring safe spaces within festival culture.
